Well, as I’m sure you’ve found out by now, officially I work for him. People gossip a lot about him, because he likes to coerce convicted criminals into his bed — there’s no denying he’s taking advantage of his power. Mind you, it hasn’t happened in the last few years, not since his illness, if I remember correctly.

What sort of an illness was that?

The strange thing about it was, it wasn’t really an illness at all. First, he almost died of it, but then, after no-one had been able to help, he recuperated by himself. The herbalists were just as astonished as the magicians were.
