Who are the most influential people in Enqui?
Ingald Ingibjarsson is now considered the rightful hetman and ruler of Enqui. The youngster still got milk on his lip.
In the fishing town, the few transieders and bone carvers who managed to escape the Thorwalians have found a new refuge among fishermen, sailors, ferrymen and dockhands. The resentment against the occupiers runs deep here, too many have lost their livelihood or even relatives during the conquest. One does not dare an open confrontation, but everyone tries to harm the Thorwalians to the best of their ability. Some are said to be willing to ally with the blackpelts to get rid of the hated occupiers. The fiercest opponent of the Thorwalians is Hegon Tequir. He is a former captain of a whaler whose considerable wealth fell into the hands of the conquerors. Condemned to an existence as a fugitive, Tequir hides under an assumed name. He likes to use people from outside the town to fight against the occupiers — as well as against citizens, who hobnob with Thorwalians. He receives the necessary money from his followers in the neighborhood, but also from some citizens who have allegedly come to terms with the new balance of power.
But I’d say, the Efferd priest, Ingulf Joosten is easily the most influential person in Enqui. He is the only priest who has the guts to openly criticize the Thorwalians. But they don’t dare touch him. They are afraid that this will lead to a revolt of all local fishermen.
